Overview
Crowdsourced reputation (CR) is a possible solution to a number of problems, including:
The basic idea behind CR is that members of an online community rate each other on one or more quality scales, and from some computed aggregate of the ratings each person receives for any given attribute, we can get some hopefully-accurate determination of the individual's actual value in that particular measure.
There are a number of problem scenarios which arise, but for now I'm only going to look at how to deal with these in specific applications (at this point I'm only looking at one, i.e. voting, but there are others to consider).
